It Starts at Home...With Our Children

If you want to have men who are strong and women who are poised, they have to be taught as boys and girls. In today's day and age, it's getting harder to teach them because schools in the United States are trying to treat both genders the same. They are not. Raise them accordingly.
Intelligence is important, foster it! Culture and knowledge are important for both our sons and daughters. In our sons, it should be taught in conjunction with leadership skills. In our daughters, it should go hand in hand with teaching her how to be a classy and graceful woman. She will not learn that anywhere but at home. It is solely up to the parents to teach their daughters how to be the sort of women that a gentleman will want to have. No woman should expect a gentleman if she is not a lady.
We want our daughters to grow to be strong capable women, but we must remember to teach them basic skills and values. Raise your daughters to be respectful of older women and obedient of worthy men. Have them wear skirts and dresses from a very young age. Encourage them to learn to cook, to be tidy and organized, to care for their appearance, and to play with dolls because it fosters, from an early age, the concepts of motherhood.
Raise your sons to be confident and assertive, but also gentle and compassionate. They should not just play the sport, they should be captain of the team. Men should lead, but should never be autocrats. A leader is only as strong as the respect he has earned. Their families, wives, and children will need guidance, but it should be by the hand of someone who cares about them, not only about himself. Boys should be taught how to handle conflict. Taught when to engage in conflict, and when to let it roll; but also never start conflict just for the sake of it. Teach your sons to be quiet and strong, polite and honorable. Teach him to lead. When a man leads, everyone will follow.
As society attempts to bridge the gap between the sexes, we've lost these most basic skills and ideals. Skills that should be taught at home. Embody these traits, and pass them onto your children. Be the change you want to see in the world.
